Welcome!

Mission
Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) champions the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. Some students and their families need intensive services while other students need a tutor or mentor. Whatever the need, CISOC tries to help fulfill it.
Five Basics
These five objectives are:
A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
A safe place to learn and grow
A healthy start and a healthy future
A marketable skill to use upon graduation
A chance to give back to peers and community
History
In 1993 concerned citizens and community leaders came together to discuss the needs of students in public schools in Orange County. Serving two school districts in the county presented a challenge to all those involved. Orange County Schools serve families in less urban areas while Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools serve families in more populous areas. To meet this challenge, the organization provides each school site with resources (goods, services, and funds) to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.
